Oakley rescue a Point
Oakley came from two goals down and earn a good point in a competitive match against a very good Hackney Wick side.
A long ball by Stephen Polley saw Greg Rodger bring down well and see his effort divert for a corner. Rory Harman chanced his luck albeit from distance that keeper Arnauchkov had to smother on the second attempt. A good block by Cobinna denied Franky Selwyn latching onto Polley`s through ball. A quick throw caught Lewis Wood out but Ash Wood was there to cover and block the shot out. Oakley should have had a penalty which was denied when from a Polley corner was headed on by L Wood and was stopped by the raised arm of Hiobi somehow unseen by the referee and assistant. Wolf who was impressive all match played the ball down the line to Cookey but Mark Palmer was able to run the ball out of play. A poor Hackney corner saw Selwyn released and with Cobinna tugging on his shirt, Selwyn worked an opening turned and sent his shot inches over the bar. But it was the visitors who opened the scoring with Oakley static an opening was made with them playing the ball around the front of the penalty area with Oakley sitting back, Sidibie latched onto a great ball from Rolin to pick his spot to score. Rolin went close only to see Luke Tynan push his shot around the post. From the corner, Rolin`s delicate cross was well defended by Harman. Oakley under pressure from Wolf by another dangerous cross managed to clear. Oakley should have drew level when good work by Palmer saw A Wood back up with a great cross with pace for L Wood to rise and head over a good chance he should have converted. Two minutes later, Oakley went two behind when again guilty of standing off allowed Rolin the time to score. But just before half time Oakley halved the score when the same combination saw A Wood fire in a free kick that saw Lewis Wood make no mistake to power his towering header home. Oakley finished the half well on top with Hackney pinned in their own third of the pitch.
Oakley continued pressuring the visitors from the off but again when Hackney broke with the dangerous Wolf, his cross saw Tynan rooted to the spot but with jamie dobkin on hand to clear the threat. Dobkin and Matt Williams combined with Dodkin`s cross into the area that saw no Oakley player gamble and run out. On the hour, a shot from A Wood was blocked by Mpalampa and saw by the referee to have fouled Wood with the referee surrounded by the Hackney players. When everybody settled down, L Wood fired his free kick around the wall with the keeper in no mans land to level the match. Oakley had fought back well from two down and were starting to frustrate their visitors but when Oakley threw numbers forward this left gaps and Rolin again was left space to turn and shot just over. From an Oakley corner, the visitors broke again and with the home side backing off again had Ben Gallifant to thank with a great block as Oakley cleared yet again. Dobkin made a great tackle to deny Cookey from testing Tynan. The game opened up with both sides looking for the winning goal. A bad knock by L Wood allowed Decker to run clear but for a bad knock by Sidibie the chance went. But with five minutes to go, a towering clearance header by Abdellaziz saw a brilliant lasp gasp tackle by Dobkin deny a scoring chance. Oakley were living dangerously in these final minutes and a chance to kill the game for each side first saw Selwyn and Williams combine with the latter rounding the keeper but Mpalampa clearing off the line then at the other end, Cookey found himself staring the goal in front of him with Tynan to beat lobbed his effort straight into the arms of Tynan.
